Paired article presentation

Working together using this wiki

Think of this wiki as a shared online whiteboard. You and your partner can make information available to us through it, particularly the articles you want the class to read and the questions you want them to think about. Play around with this wiki: Notice how you can add comments to a page, see what people have changed, and edit all the text.

Paired presentation assignment:

We're going to take a little different approach for a while in class. With a partner, you are going to find an article on a topic of your choice, assign it to the class to read *along with* questions to think about, and then lead a class discussion on the article for about 20 - 25 minutes during one class period. The article can be about anything you choose but it should be fairly in depth -- at least two pages, printed out. Good sources to check include Sports Illustrated, the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Harper's, and other magazines as well as other databases -- a;; of which can be accessed through the Sprague library webpage, under periodicals (the databases are under Articles, the specific magazines etc are alphabetically listed under Periodicals).

So, here are the steps you need to take:

  1. With your partner, choose an article
  2. Post the article to this wiki, along with questions and points you want us to think about while reading
  3. Lead a discussion based on the article in class, for about 20-25 minutes
  4. Assign a follow-up blog post, then read other blogs and comment on what people write in response to your post topic
